Does “Content Marketing” Harm the Writing Industry?


You may not have heard the term “content marketing,” but if you have an internet connection you’ve almost certainly encountered it, knowingly or unknowingly.

It’s that mention of a brand that’s just a little too obvious in an online news article. It’s that listicle that promises to tell you the best new products to buy, written by someone who got paid to mention certain products. It’s advertising that nefariously, deliberately poses as informative writing — and it’s taking over the writing world.
